CURTAINS

We always recommend that you check the care labels before cleaning any curtains from Dollar curtains and blinds. Some curtains are able to be dry cleaned why others are not. When getting your curtains cleaned we suggest using a professionally curtain cleaner. Please be aware that not all dry cleaners are able to preserve the look of the drapes in the best possible condition however frequent up keep can elevate the need to do this on a regular basis. Vacuum drapes with the soft attachment on your vacuum cleaner and remove dust from the folds and headings this will stop the grit from corroding the fabric. If there is any marks on the curtain they can be spot washed either with a ‘spotter’ or a damp cloth, make sure the fabric is dry immediately after to avoid any water marks.

Before spot cleaning the curtain it is best to test this on an unseen part of the drape to confirm that it will not leave a water mark.

SHUTTERS

Shutters are fairly low maintenance, if they are kept dusted they normally should stay relatively clean. They can be wiped down with a damp soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or any scourers as this will damage the finish of the timber.

ROLLER AND ROMAN BLINDS

Plasticised materials and sunscreen blinds are very hardwearing and can be wiped down with warm soapy water or mild detergents. Do not vigorously rub fabric or it may get damaged.

Flock back fabrics must be treated more carefully. Do not leave them wet or use any type of cleaner on them. Try and remove any marks from the front of the fabric by using a wrung out cloth and gently tease at spot (please be aware that if you use too much pressure you may water mark the fabric).

If you dust or gently wipe over the front of your fabric once a month you will help the up keep the look of your blind and avoid any necessary harsh cleaning.
